柴油是柴油机的燃料，主要由原油蒸馏、催化裂化、热裂化、加氢裂化、石油焦化等过程生产的柴油馏分调配而成；也可由页岩油加工和煤液化制取。用做转速不低于960r/min的压燃式高速柴油发动机的燃料，也可用做各种柴油燃烧器的燃料（如：燃烧机、压铸机、汽车、货车、拖拉机、工程机械、推土机、挖机、起重机、压路机、船舶、锅炉及各种进口发电机组、国产发电机组）
